Amy Mielke

Amy Mielke is an award-winning filmmaker with more than a decade of experience in film and television. She began her career in Toronto as an editor at the internationally recognized editorial company Panic & Bob before returning to her hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Over the course of her career, she has worked across narrative films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos as an editor, producer, and director.

In 2022, she co-founded A+B Roll Films with creative partner Brittney Gavin to develop and create original projects.

Her contributions to Canada’s screen industry have been recognized with several honours, including the 2024 WIFT-AT Wave Award for her work ethic and commitment to storytelling, the 2024 WIFT-AT Best Director Award, the 2026 Screen Nova Scotia Award for Outstanding Achievement in Editing, and a Canadian Cinema Editors Award for Best Editing in a Documentary Series.

Brittney Gavin

Owner

Brittney is a Nova Scotian filmmaker living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Brittney has experience working on documentaries, narrative films, corporate videos and commercials. Prior to entering the film industry, Brittney worked as a Health Promotion Facilitator throughout Nova Scotia and Alberta. Her previous role focused on addressing the root causes of health inequities and improving population health outcomes. Brittney hopes to bring her passion for enacting social change to all her projects. Brittney began in the film industry as an editor, but has since branched out to produce and direct her own films.

In 2022, Brittney started A + B Roll Films with Amy Mielke with the mission of advancing the perspectives of equity-seeking groups through the stories we tell.

Brittney won the WIFT-AT Best Director Award at the 2024 Screen Nova Scotia Awards.
